How to Change a Car Headlight Bulb
Car Headlight Bulb Removal & Re-fitting Instructions
First check that you can access the rear of the headlight cluster, if you can, now remove the cover to gain access to the wiring plug & bulb mounting clips, some bulb mounting covers may be a simple twist, or push fit, but others may have metal spring clips to hold them in place or the light clusters wiring feed through the cover itself.
With the cover removed, you should be able to gain access to the wiring plug at the rear of the headlight bulb, in most cases the wiring plug is simply pushed into place on the bulbs electrical tab connectors & removed by simply pulling backwards, in other instances the wiring plug can be clipped to the rear of the bulb or a twist/screw fitting connector. The bulb itself is usually held in place with a metal spring clip that sits behind a hook to keep the bulb sat in place, please note there may be more than 1 hook holding the bulb in place. You should press the metal clip towards the front of the car then move it slightly sideways to release it from the fixing hook (remember its a spring clip holding the bulb in place). With the metal clip removed you should be able to remove the old headlight bulb & fit the new one, with the fitting reversal to removal, whilst ensuring the angled tabs on the base of the headlight bulb are aligned correctly in the housing to ensure the correct headlight beam angle. It is also very important that you handle the new bulb by the base & not the glass (as this will leave a residue on the glass that will cause the bulb to heat unevenly & fail prematurely, if the glass on the new bulb is touched, simply wipe clean using methylated spirits).
