Bluetooth Kit Integration
How an Aftermarket Bluetooth In Car Handsfree Kit Integrates into a Vehicles Audio System
To Install an aftermarket Bluetooth Handsfree Kit into a vehicle fitted with an aftermarket Head Unit is a simple straight forward plug & go installation, as both the aftermarket Head Unit & also the Bluetooth Handsfree Kit are wired to standard ISO wiring blocks. All is required, is for the kit to be installed neatly & professionally behind the dash, concealing all wires, connectors & Handsfree kit. In certain vehicles this can be quite tricky, as there there can be a lot of trim removal required for: access to the head unit for wiring, access to the rear of the dash to conceal the unit, trim removal for guiding cables from the kit such as the screen, remote control (if on cable), microphone, any music input cables for example, MP3 connection, iPod control, Aux connection, USB connection etc.(Generally the best place to route the Music Input Leads etc is to the vehicles glovebox).
To recap the actual Bluetooth Kit should be concealed behind the dashboard with easy access to the rear of the stereo for wiring attachments. The kit's screen or button control should be routed neatly to the front of the dash, and within reach from the drivers seat. The microphone, ideally the best place is to be up near the vehicles rear view mirror with the cable neatly concealed running under the roof trim/side panels etc. Generally the best place to route the Music Input Leads etc is to the vehicles glovebox allowing easy concealment and access to your MP3 Player, Smartphone etc. For help on trim removal see our Head Unit Removal Guides. |
To install an aftermarket Bluetooth Handsfree Kit into a vehicle fitted with a factory Head Unit, most vehicles require a conversion lead to convert the vehicles wiring to standard ISO (commonly known as an SOT 'sound on top' lead, or T Harness), so it's compatible with the Bluetooth Handsfree Kit. With this extra wiring the installation again is pretty straight forward as the T Harness converts all necessary wiring. All is required is for the kit to be installed neatly & professionally behind the dash, concealing all wires, connectors & kit. In certain vehicles this can be quite tricky, as there is a lot of trim removal required for: access to the head unit for wiring, access to the rear of the dash to conceal the unit, trim removal for guiding cables from the kit such as the screen, remote control (if on cable), microphone, any music input cables for example, mp3 connection, ipod control, aux connection, USB connection etc. For help on trim removal see our Head Unit Removal Guides.
